Apprentice Millwright / Industrial Mechanic

Position Title: Apprentice Millwright Industrial Mechanic Classification: Full-Time

Department: Service/Projects/Fabrication

Report To: Lead Hand Millwright / Owner Work Schedule: As required by customers, Overtime

Wages: Based on experience, Competitive

Ermeltek Z-Row’s specialized team has years of experience in MRF design, Baler rebuilds and recycling equipment installation and repairs. .

By concentrating our attention on the recycling industry, we have developed technicians specifically trained to quickly trouble shoot and respond to problems that are unique to the recycling industry.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works day to day with a good customer base to establish maintenance goals and procedures. Provides on-site service in a timely and professional manner to a growing recycling industry.

  • Repairs and Installs recycling machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments, using welding equipment, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

  • Fabricates, moves, assembles, and installs equipment, such as conveyors, balers, platforms and other industrial equipment, using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, man lifts, jack and roll equipment, cranes and other large industrial equipment.

  • Aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.

  • Works with other trades and contractors to successfully complete small to mid-sized projects and equipment rebuilds.

  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.

  • Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.

Assists in formulating departmental strategic plan.

Serves as a member of various employee and organizational committees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED.

Must have own tools for daily tasks.

Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills

Interest in enrolling in Millwright program

Valid driver’s license

Bondable to work in secured areas.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Manufacturing / Industrial environment; will be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting up to 50lbs regularly and 75lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.

Salary: $20.00-$40.00 per hour

Ermeltek Z-Row’s specialized team has over 20 years of experience in advance conveyor and sorting solution designs, baler rebuilds and recycling equipment installation and repairs.

By concentrating our attention on the recycling industry, we have developed technicians specifically trained to quickly trouble shoot and respond to problems that are unique to the recycling industry. We are looking to add to our team.

Our team frequently works overtime and on weekends during projects and breakdowns with little advanced notice. Successful candidates will be required to work weekends and overtime as required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Able to work independently

Or under guidance on a day to day shop operations

Maintaining and enforcing a safe work environment,

Production planning,

Production time management,

Coordinating with outside suppliers

Working closely with our leadership team as we develop our new manufacturing facility in Princeton, BC during the next 12 months

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Fabrication/Welding/Project environment

Proven knowledge of Fabrication techniques and welding processes

Able to read and interpret shop drawings

Able to navigate AutoCad software. Solidworks 3D is a bonus

Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Strong desire to be a leader and to take on the responsibilities of running a fabrication facility with minimal supervision and lots of support.

Shop environment and occasional recycling facilities

This is a top-level position in our company

Based in Coaldale, AB.

Will involve travelling throughout the Prairies maintaining & installing recycling facilities.

Opportunity for travel throughout North America

Able to lead/coordinate a team of 2-6 techs

Able to mentor apprentices

Customer relations and attitude are key 

Responsible for service vehicles and company equipment.

Must be bondable

Proficient welding skills. SMAW & MIG

Electrical & Controls; Smart relay, PLC, & VFDs

Lathe & Mill knowledge an asset

Attention to detail

Paperwork; timesheets, service reports, etc

Tech savvy: email, office, autocad/solidworks are a bonus, apps.

You will be remotely connected with other company leaders.

Not afraid to get into the shit and get dirty.

Able and willing to listen & learn & contribute
